The Jungfrau Region is the Hollywood of Switzerland. Its impressive waterfalls, snow-covered peaks and deep-blue mountain lakes make it the perfect film setting. No wonder our region has inspired so many authors and directors. The number of blockbusters that have used the region as a film location is evidence of just how well the region captures the imagination.

The author J.R.R. Tolkien drew inspiration from his visit to the Jungfrau Region. Rivendell in «The Lord of the Rings» is very similar to the Lauterbrunnen Valley.
