The ultimate adrenalin rush

Marching along the steep rock face secured by a rope is the ultimate adrenaline kick. The special thing: The via ferrata leads down from Mürren to Gimmelwald, not up. The spectacular view of the Bernese four-thousand-metre peaks is included free of charge. High above the Lauterbrunnen Valley on the Mürren viewing terrace, the via ferrata begins, leading over a steep cliff.
The climb takes about 2.5 to 3 hours. The degree of difficulty is for beginners (K3).

Opening hours

The via ferrata is only open in summer from 1st of June to 31st of  October from 9 am to 6 pm every day.
In order to protect the wildlife, the via ferrata may not be used in the other months.

The via ferrata can be done without a guide and free of charge.

Guided tours are offered twice a day (09.10 am 2.10 pm. Duration: 3-4h) by GrwindelwaldSports.

We recommend you to reserve the equipment in advance.

As the fall protection devices are only effective with a certain weight, we recommend a body weight of between 40 and 120 kg for all those who get on the via ferrata.  A minimum size of 145 cm is required.

The 2.2 km long footbridge consists of various steel elements that were fixed to the rock and other surfaces.
Through the attached steel rope, you can secure yourself on the route with the carabiners of the via ferrata set.
You walk along footpaths, metal steps, ladders and bridges stretched across the abyss.
If you want to use the Tyrolienne, you have to book a guided tour.

Clean-up and securing work is carried out shortly before the opening.

The entrance of the via ferrata is located below the Sportchalet, at the lower right part of the tennis court.
