Meiringen airfield officially began operations on 1 December 1941. The opening coincided with the war year 1941, when things did not look at all rosy for our continued existence. Where are we today? What events have shaped the development of the airfield in the meantime? One thing is certain: the differences between then and now are enormous. Some things have stood the test of time and still have the same value today as they did then. Many things have adapted to the present time, had to adapt.

Get to know the Air Force at the Meiringen military airbase.
The Air Force presents itself with a fascinating film. Get up close and personal with an equipped Tiger F-5 fighter jet and an Alouette III helicopter. A look inside a cutaway engine and a flight in the "simulator" make this afternoon an unforgettable experience.

Permanent Exhibition Hangar 1

From 1 May to 12 October, Hangar 1 is open to all interested visitors every Wednesday afternoon from 1.30 pm to 4 pm.

Registration is not required. The exhibition includes an equipped Tiger F-5 fighter jet, an Alouette lll helicopter, various cutaway engines, a flight simulator and other exhibition exhibits.

Specialists will be present on site to provide support, supervision and answer questions.
