Hiking in the World Heritage Site

The Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage Site captivates visitors with its spectacular mountain landscape. The walk to Oberhornsee leads from Stechelberg through woodland and alpine terrain up to the idyllic mountain lake. Along the way, you’ll be treated to impressive views of the steep and, in places, icy north faces of the Grosshorn and Mittaghorn.

From Goethe to Tolkien

The stunning landscape of the Jungfrau Region has inspired many famous figures. It was here that Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Lord Byron wrote poems, and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy produced a well-known sketch. J.R.R. Tolkien, the author of *The Lord of the Rings*, also drew inspiration from his walks through the Bernese Oberland. The Jungfrau Region even served as the inspiration for *Star Wars*.
