Die Trümmelbachfälle sind Teil der 72 Wasserfälle des Lauterbrunnentals, zu denen auch der eindrucksvolle Staubbachfall gehört. Eine meist flache Wanderung führt von Lauterbrunnen nach Stechelberg an den von senkrechten und teils mehreren hundert Meter hohen Felswänden hinuntersprudelnden Wassern vorbei.

Now that’s a cow. Our Lieselotte. She weighs a proud one hundred tonnes. A huge beast. She patiently looks up the Royal Walk to the oversized crown. The view up there must really be fantastic.

In 1911, the 19-year-old J.R.R. Tolkien hiked through the Swiss Alps – and of course through Lauterbrunnen Valley. It’s a little-known fact that he found his inspiration for the landscape in “The Lord of the Rings” here.
